Birth of Hanuman Hanuman was born to Anjana (an apsara who had been cursed to become a monkey) and Kesari (a monkey king). He is also considered to be the son of the wind god Vayu (Pavan Putra) as Vayu carried the divine pudding to Anjana. He was born on a Tuesday, which is why Tuesday is considered Hanuman's day. Hanuman's Childhood As a child, Hanuman mistook the rising sun for a ripe fruit and tried to swallow it. When Indra struck him with his thunderbolt, Vayu (wind god) became upset and stopped the flow of air. All beings started suffocating.
